1. Belarus introduction :-

Belarus, a country in Europe, bunded by Russia in the east, Ukraine to the south, Poland to west and Lithuania to the northwest. Due to the reason, it is also known as a ‘landlocked’ country. Belarus holds the last and the largest part of Primeval forest, referring it as the ‘Lungs of Europe‘. Although there aren’t many sea beaches or mountains in Belarus, which is often seen as an attraction for visitors and travelers, it does with holds many other gorgeous beautiful places, which marks Belarus unique in the entire Europe.

One thing that must be kept in mind if you are planning visiting Belarus, is not to violate any laws, or do any illegal stupid things, that might just increase the chance of punishment or arrest, as the government is extremely strict and harsh.

2. When should you plan visiting Belarus ?:-

  1. During Autumn (Sep-Oct) :- the weather out there would be pleasant neither too hot and nor too cold. As the temperature often seen to rises high during summer in months of June and July. You can also experience little drizzling rain but not too rainy or humid days. The trip to Belarus could also be a bit less expensive during these months, as the tickets and resorts pricing will have been fallen by that time.
  2. Early spring (March-April) :- considered as the best times if you have an intend travelling to Belarus. Will have to experience no rains, plenty of time to explore around, the beauty of nature, amazing monuments and parks. The weather will be on your side, light wind, beautiful atmosphere, and the right time to enjoy with your friends or family.
  3. During winters (Dec-Feb) :- it won’t be the right time, and is not recommended because the temperature in Belarus can be extremely low and can fall to a great extent. Travelling in cold and snowy days, will have no fun and joy, unless you really prefer and enjoy the winters.

3. Worth visiting and famous Belarus destinations :-

1. Mir castle :- located in the city of Mir itself, the castle has been built during the 16th century. The structure, design and architecture is unique and remarkable, pointing to the old history and culture of Belarus. This castle also gained popularity when it was marked by UNESCO as ‘world heritage site‘ of Belarus, making it a great tourist attraction.

2. Belarusian state museum :- although Belarus is a home to over 150 museums, but the Belarusian state museum in Minsk, is the most frequently visited. Any one who is interested in history of different cultures and norms or the 2nd world war can be a part in visiting it. The museum was built in the capital of Belarus (Minsk) to symbolize ‘victory’.

3. Belozhevskaya Pushcha National Park :- this park is considered among the largest parks of Belarus. The park provides home to over 200 species of plants and trees such as Oak tree, Pine and fir, and to several different kinds of animals like wolf, horses, dears, cranes, eagles and the European bison. This park serves as a great tourist attraction, it is best explored on foot as vehicles are prohibited inside the park.

4. Nesvizh Castle :- As by the name the castle is situated in Nesviz, due to the mesmerizing architecture and the beauty of the landscape, the lakes and the gardens wraps up everything in a perfect picturesque scene. The castle is one of most attractive and beautiful places of Belarus. It’s a pure piece of art, attracting thousands of tourist all year around.

5. Island of tears :- Ellis island once known as the island of hope, now is popularly recognized as the ‘island of tears‘. It is because how a large number of soldiers died during the Afghan war and families got separated as many people were not allowed to entered America. The place has many nun statues built as a memorial of all the pain and deaths the individuals had to face.

6. Lights Alley :- Located at Brest, a cost free tourist place called the alley of lights or the lights alley. It has various unusual and iconic statues and sculptures along with old fashioned street lamps. The overall place is quite unique and a must-vis. There is a wide range of amazing picture spots, and when the lamps are turned on at night, it creates a magical scene. The place also provides cafes and local snack options.

7. Brest railway museum :- the railway museum at Brest is truly one of a kind, it holds several models and structures of various trains and engines like the steam engine, hydraulic engine, electric engines, trains and many more. You can take fun pictures all around, and there are some local food and restaurant options to keep you full and energetic while exploring around.

1. Aqua/water parks :- water parks are the most hyped and popular tourist attractions in Belarus. A perfect place of relaxation, awesome water games and rides, for children as well as adults of all ages. The water parks always provides something for everyone. Famous Belarusian water parks includes Lebyazhy water park, Molodechno waterpark, Kobryn waterpark, Zhlobin water park and many more. The water parks are worth visit and worth every second and penny.

2. Gorky central park :- located in Minsk, around the victory square, a public amusement park, which is Gorky central park. The park is widely visited by tourists and locals either to attend the cultural events and activities or to have fun at the rides and to enjoy ice hockey which is also located inside the park that is greatly admired.

3. Dino park :- The Dino park is absolutely incredible and one of a kind. Also located in Minsk with huge and enormous Dino models and structures out of which some even move, there are amazing picture spots, a pleasant walking area and lots of local food and snacks. A great place for children to have fun much more than their expectations.

4. Chelyuskinites park :- another theme and amusement park in Belarus that is worth at least one try. It has got beautiful greenery, flowers and tress, indeed a nature’s blessing. With great sitting area, exciting rides and some mammals like rabbit and squirrels that you can play around with. If you are in Minsk and want to to have a fun time do visit this place.

5. Belarusian foods to give a try :-

1. Draniki ( potato pancakes ):- starting with a popular, also the national dish of Belarus. Draniki are traditional potato pancakes, made by combing raw grated potatoes along with eggs, onion, flour and some basic spices like salt, pepper and paprika, shaped into a circular disc and pan fried to give it a crispy golden crust, then topped off with sour cream.

2. Machanka (beef/pork stew) :- it is a traditional Belarusian stew either can be made from beef, sausage or pork meat. The delicious stew is made from flour and sour cream with traditional spices. It is a hearty dish which can be enjoyed at lunch or dinner.

3. Kletski ( dumplings ):- another really popular dish, loved and enjoyed by all is Kletski. Combining grated potatoes with flour, an egg, salt & pepper. When a dough mixture is formed it is then shaped into small circular balls, then boiled in water for 5-6 minutes. It is then drained and served along with sour cream garnished with dill. At some places, to make the dish even more flavorful the potato dough is stuffed with prepared meat and then boiled.

4. Lazanki :- Lazanki is a flat square shaped pasta. A staple and famous dish among the Belarusian and polish. This pasta dish usually includes cabbage and onions, including some type off meat like sausages, pork bacon or both. It is warm and creamy, enjoyed by everyone.

5. Syrniki :- part of the Belarusian cuisine, delicious cottage cheese pancakes. The cottage cheese is first sweetened with sugar, combined with flour to form a dough and then fried in oil. Topped off with jam, honey or powdered sugar. This yummy sweet pancakes can be enjoyed as desert or as breakfast.

6. Kutya ( pudding) :- being included in the Belarusian cuisine from centuries, it is a wheat grain sweet pudding. Often includes wheat, oats, berries , honey, seeds and nuts. It is traditionally made and served on special occasions like Christmas or on new year’s eve. It is a tradition to throw a small bowl of Kutia / Kutya towards the roof or ceiling, and the number of grains stuck on the roof predicts the next year’s agriculture gains.

7. Khalatsik :- This is also widely known as cold beet soup, an other Belarusian staple, enormously loved by people. The soup is made by boiling beetroots, mixed with cucumbers, kefir, onions and dill. It tastes delicious, super refreshing and has a lovely pink color, due to the beets and is super tempting. Traditionally the soup with served with hard-boiled egg on top and sprinkled with fresh dill, often eaten with a dollop of sour cream as well.
